Stewart Glass - Independent Candidate for the SA Upper House
Ref: MED004
Stewart Glass, a family photographer from Happy Valley, has reaffirmed his intention to run as an independent candidate for the Upper House ( the Legislative Council ) on 20th March.
The 36 year has a platform of less taxes and a reduction in the role of government in South Australian's lives.
"There's a big difference between the Rann Government and me - they think they have rights to your property and time, and anything they let you keep is a "gift". I say the reverse - your life and the things you have earned are yours, and we should only feel a duty to support a government in it's core duties." said Mr Glass last week.
Mr Glass claims one of the most wide ranging and damaging policies has been the Rann Government's continued use of land zoning laws in the Urban Boundary.
"By restricting large land owners on the urban fringe from splitting up and selling their properties, they have created an artificial famine of land for new home owners. Land shortages is a major factor in homes been extremely unaffordable for the young and the poor in our society" claimed Mr Glass.
"Imagine you are in a race with 272 people from the USA, UK, NZ, Australia and Canada. If you come 262nd then you are Adelaide and the race is housing affordability."
Mr Glass has set up a website specifically to lobby against the Urban Boundary:
